As a kid, I have many memories of the 40' bolted rail spur that mainly ran coal to the local power plant. Milwaukee, and later for a short period, GN ran these rails. I recall some of the 40' coal hoppers swaying back and forth so badly my mother would back further away from the crossing. After the train passed, I'd look down the tracks and remember how out of sorts it looked. The question, has anyone tried to model this on a weed infested, run down spur and have it actually dis-function without being derailment prone? Some part of me really wants to see an old GP or SD with a string of coal cars bump and sway down a spur in HO scale
There was a member, mikelhh, who has his famous "bakery line", which fits the bill. One example I found in one of his albums: https://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?media/bakery-line-015rrr.11946/full That looks scary!
