    Nothing to be sorry about!

I've been regularly buying and selling on eBay for 5&1/2 years now. A few observations-

Packing materials, and the time involved, is something many people tend to overlook.

When using USPS Priority or Express mail, yes, the boxes/envelopes are provided. But they actually are figured in with the final price that USPS charges you for use of their service. That material is not free. Some folks think it is. No. It's simply an excellent marketing feature.

Otherwise, the shipper must provide all the materials in order to get your item safely sent. Not to mention their time to package, gas to drive to the post office, and then wait in a line.

Of the shops I regularly deal with as a buyer, they seem to be in the $7.00-$8 range including insurance. Several N items I've recently won on eBay have been in that range. When using priority mail, and adding enough insurance.

Is there a difference between USPS 1st Class and Priority? After I weigh a package at the post office, I find that often there is not. Which is the reason that today many sellers simply choose to ship via Priority.

Many of the other items this fellow is selling appear to be Lionel. Which is much heavier than N. So the blanket fee from this guy is not at all unreasonable.

No. I have never dealt with this seller. So do not speak for him.

    :D

hey watash, take a chill pill dude....

personally, I didn't read anything in the posts that slammed you, sounds like you got a good deal!! I'd pay a little extra shipping to save $100 on a lokey ANYDAY!! ;)

I do have one question for you... your signature says something about "see you in the pit..." being a central Illinois lad, when I hear "pit", my first thought is the "zephyr pit" up in the windy city (formerly CB&Q, now Amwreck) just south of Union Station. Inquiring Minds wanna know :)

    Ednsfan,

I thought that if one of you wanted a nice Riverossi made (for Atlas), E-8 "A" unit with the War Bonnet ATSF paint in its original box, this might be a good buy for you. You have 4 days yet to bid, and to email him to ask any questions about it.

This engine is in his "Other Auction Items" list, that I was going through on the HO listings Forum.

There is only one bid so far, the opening one for $8.00. You would have to bid at least fifty cents more to become high bidder. ($8.50).

His shipping is $4.50 in the US, not bad.

The local hobby shop has it for $89.95.

It sounded to me like some of the responces would rather pay the $89.95 than have to pay the $4.50 or even $8.00 shipping.

I was going to tell them it is eBay item #1774994490 in the HO listings, if they wanted to go read about it.

I don't think very many HO people will look at it since it is N scale. so you might have a good chance to save some money here.

About my signature: I was referring to the "Inspection Pit", where I am supposed to stay, and help moderate, but sometimes I stray out of my back yard and try to help others.
