I was wondering if anybody knows what year the Union Pacific took over the LA&SL, or was it always a subsidery? If it was, what year was the LA&SL disolved into the UP? Thanks.

To made a long story short, the LA&SL was formed by the UP stock holders to run UP operations from Salt Lake City to So-Cal. BTW, the OSL was formed to do the same thing from Western WY and Northern UT to the NW. I have more on it at my web site under Railroads then clicking on either OSL or LA&SL. Also the LA&SL was the San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake RR prior to becoming the LA&SL.

Here is a link to Jim Harrawood's page that should answer all of your questions:

    Hey Kevin,

Got ya. I think Don Strack has better info that I do. Didn't think of it until I had posted my first reply.
