i have a separate loop run by a separate transformer. At a turnout away from the loop connection my engine completely stopped, as well as all power to the loop. Is there a reason a malfunctioning turnout could cause a power loss to a loop ? Any ideas would help. Thnaks Trainrick
Power stoppage would imply a circuit breaker has been thrown. A lot of power packs have built in circuit breakers for fault/short protection. It's like your loco is somehow hitting both sets of rails as it crosses this switch thus making a short circuit. The only thing you can really do is examine where the wheels are touching when this happen to see where the connection is being made. If you post a photo maybe we can help some more.
