That looks like it could go either way but fairly sure it's the 1280. Found a similar pic to this one from 2015 and then found one dated 2020 that had the 1230 not in extra crispy condition. I am not saying 100% because sometimes picture dates on some sites can be a bit questionable. :D

I agree it is number 1280. Looks like it will one day soon be tuna or soup cans.....

Its carbon emission upon burning no doubt offset whatever it was supposed to save. :)

Seems like I remember reading that many of these units got stored away due to being prone to battery fires. I have always thought they were cool looking engines!

It's an NRE genset loco. There is only the regular amount of batteries in them :)
There is a few here in Australia , two different models, one has 2 diesel engines and the other type have 3 diesel engines. All engines are Cummins.

I'm told they are great for hauling short-ish distances such as yard to port ................. and if maintained they don't catch fire !!!

Just out of interest the non environmentally friendly Chinese built loco behind the gensets were found to have bonus asbestos in the engine bays ...... hhhhmmmmmmmmm. :(

After further review.....that last number looks more like a zero than an 8. If you look at an enlarged photo, you can tell.
