Over the years, I've seen many views of this bridge. Back in the 1970's, and 1980's, I recall there were a couple of slide sets that showed boxcab motors crossing it. There are four color views on pages 106-107 of "Under Milwaukee Wires." (Bill Marvel- Morning Sun Books.) It was easily accessed, even before I-90 was built underneath. So you should be able to locate plenty of views. I wonder what a Google Search might turn up? Boxcab E50
I have done the google search already, just wondering if i could find more. It really is a fantastic trestle. ARe the pictures in that book you mentioned taken when the railraod was still in operation or after in went under?
The bulk of, if not all photos, (full color book), were taken in the 1950's. Perhaps some in the early 1960's. I avoid post-1980 stuff. Abandonment views seem to tarnish my memories. Have you also tried checking with the Kittitas County historical group? Boxcab E50
i should check the historical group. i also wonder if i could find a map of where the tracked once was. I have tried following it on the tera map online, but it cuts out shortly before the renslow trestle.
Try this link: http://www.terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?T=1&S=13&Z=10&X=440&Y=3252&W=1&qs=%7ckittitas%7cwa%7c Use the zoom function to sneak in closer. The line shows clearly. Passing through Kittitas, along the north side of I-90, Renslow Bridge, and on east. Boxcab E50
cool you found it. i was trying to start from vantage and continue west, but like i said the map cuts out. however when you start from renslow and continue east you cn follow the whole thing. [ March 31, 2005, 11:54 PM: Message edited by: popularthinks ]
Argh! Good question. I'm trying to remember exactly what happened there. As far as I can recall, they did get some trackage, in and around Moses Lake. But most was scrapped. I'd need to find a few old BN timetables, and see what they show. Try to jog my memory. Boxcab E50
Yes, the BN took over the MILW line to Moses Lake. A connection/spur was already in place, sort of, at Wheeler (outside of Moses Lake) at the old U&I sugar factory with the BN(NP). This is still the current arrangement. At Seiler siding, this spur connected to the actual branch to Moses Lake. There needed to be a run-around move made as the switch was set to head trains back to Warden. Part of the MILW branch from Warden to Seiler was abandoned. Also, BN built a connection at Warden to the MILW main. The NP bridge over the MILW was then removed. This allowed access to a few industries that had been at the head of the Moses Lake branch at Warden, along with access to Othello.
