Does anyone know of a website dedicated to Rock Island? I haven't been able to find one, and would like to find historical information, pictures, routes, etc., etc. Thanks! Eddie
EDDIE, Try these two: www.simpson.edu/~RITS/ www.rockisl.com Also try ROCK ISLAND RAILROAD TRACKS at Delphi.com These are all very good sites. AF Niederer
AF, Thanks a bunch! Both sites are great and have been duly bookmarked. Appreciate you posting them. Eddie
It's interesting to see people being referred to the Rock Island Technical Society web site from here. Not only do they not participate in and approve of this forum, they strongly disapprove of the Rock Island forum on TrainBoard.com and see it as an unsanctioned forum that attempts to duplicate their efforts (e-mail list.) We did offer them the opportunity to Moderate this forum and were told that we could .... well, I guess I can't use that language here. Glad they have your information though. ------------------ Ship It On The FRISCO! | IAMOKA.com
Well I guess I am one of the lesser members of RITS as I was not aware of this. I enjoy absorbing Rock Island history, model information and anything else I can at whatever site is available. I approve of Trainboard!! I visit several sites each time I go on line. I intend to participate at any site, on any forum concerning the RI(or any other road if I feel I have anything to offer) as long as I can. I hope I did not step out of bounds by mentioning RITS as I was unaware that they did not aprove. A F Niederer

Thanks AFN, The site is in a bad need of updating. I have a bunch of new information to incorporate into the Rock-Island.org site, but am having a hard time finding the time to do it. If nothing else, look for new updates on the site this winter when things slow down. ------------------ From... The Rocket Long Live "The Rock" !!!
