I am looking for information about carnival-sized trains, along the lines of Chance locos and Custom Locomotives.

I can't seem to get to the Custom Locomotives website -- have they gone out of business? Changed servers?

I am also interested in knowing other 24-gauge locomotive manufacturers.

We have a special needs son and are looking to create a family business around model railroading, a business that will allow him to participate.

Thanks in advance for your help!

First and formost welcome to TrainBoard. Next I need your help. What is 24 gauge? Can you give me an idea of the size?
Have you tried contacting some of the more popular distributors such as Walthers or the Caboose in Denver, CO.
What about MR magazine, they might know something that will help you.

Sorry I can't be of more help :(

Welcome to the TrainBoard Amy! I am thinking you are talking about the 24 gauge as refered to the distance between the rails? If so that would be like the trains we see in the parks that give rides. There is one here in Ft.Worth in the Forrest Park area along with the Zoo. I will make some inquiries for you tomorrow, and see what I can find. :D

P.S. I don't find Kingsville on my map, where is it from Ft.Worth, Texas? You may email me at wdtrains@applink.net if you rather, maybe I can help. Remember, there is always a way, for those that love the Lord!

Kingsville is down south of Corpus Christi, got a right healthy sized navy base there. I've got a bro-in-law at Bishop, about 8-10 miles from there. I rode a (24) 2 foot gage train up near Portland Maine last year. They used a small diesel, but were rebuilding a staemer. If that is what you're talking about, that is mega-bucks. My nephew in Gardiner, Maine has a start on a 7.5 inch gage train, which is big enough to ride. He has a handcar that is a blast to ride. On those, a car RTR is $600-1000, with locos from $4-15000, so 7.5 gage isn't cheap. If either of those are what you're talking about, let me know and I'll see if I can get more info.

I have moved this topic to the live steam forum, hopefully to help in finding the required information for Amy.
