You lucky so 'n' so :p Is that area on a grade of any sorts? I'm not familiar with prototypical train sounds, but it sounded like some form of wheel braking was going on... Or am I just embarrassing myself? lol.

    Anyway, nice catch :)

Sounded like flanges on a curve.

Is this a branch line? He seemed to be meandering along at a leisurely pace. But the right of way looked fairly decent.

I don't know if that was brake noise, or just wheel-on-rail noise, maybe both. If you want to explore the area on Google Maps or Google Earth, I was standing right where the green arrow is:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?q=44.849438,+-93.364214&num=1&t=h&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=23.875,57.630033&ie=UTF8&ll=44.849643,-93.364204&spn=0.001584,0.003484&z=19&iwloc=A

Train was headed south, where there are a couple of unprotected crossings, and several protected ones. There is a slight downhill grade through this area, not steep, but there nonetheless....

Tracy nice. However, you're lucky you didn't have your next birthday at the speed this train was moving! Are there fish in those lakes? Jim

Slow or not, beat my lunch by a country mile-leftover pork and onions -_- I'd have traded that for a train through my back yard any day :p

Great catch! Love the old telephone poles, and the whole area is nice!

What former Railroad is this? Milwaukee Road, maybe?

If not, there are roughly 10,000 more to try!

I believe that was the Soo job, on the old MN&S line, which services Progressive Rail's
Dan Patch Line. When I started up the line for PGR and ran it, we made interchange with CP around noon.
