    Well, MILW 156 was damaged and needed to be repainted. But that isn't the answer. Hmmm. Good question.

    I heard one time that one of the WP GP40 Bi-Cens was wrecked too. Dont know when or what number, but maybe that is the answer.

    How about (1st) Illinois Central 1776? Wrecked about a month after being painted. Replaced with another (2nd) 1776.

    Original BN 1976, made it less than a week before it was damaged in a grade crossing accident.

    Ike, you are correct. It is the original BN 1976.

    However, I had IC 1776 in mind when I was making this question, but then I looked at the time line for both units and found that BN 1976 had a shorter lifespan.
