    has anyone else seen this?
I have a new Athearn Genisis SD70ACe and the lead axel on the front truck keeps jumping the track. It always shows up in the same spot on the track, at a joint. If I run it backwards, it doesn't happen. We're the Genisis locos light in the trucks? Would adding weight help?

This is on the joint between the first 2 curve pieces, I've filed the joint to where is is completely smooth. Anyone care to throw out some ideas? I notice if I push the truck up towards the frame there seems to be a catch but I filed that down as well.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I like the loco but if it keeps this up it will be relegated to lash-up status and not the lead loco.

    Thanks,
    Dale

I have had this problem. The rails were too close together at the joint making the truck climb up the rail. Have you measured the gap between the rails?

I would check both the track and wheel gauges.

Hadn't done that yet. But all the others Locos run over it just fine. I'll get the gauge out.

I had, literally, the same thing except with a Dash 9... turned out to be bad track... even though every other loco I had, even another Dash 9, would have no problems. Ended up cutting out a 5 inch section of track and relaying it. JMS

Sounds like a classic guage problem. Bet the track is just a hair to narrow and the truck a hair to wide and the combo is trouble.

I'll check it today and report back. Thanks for the ideas!
