how is the rear end? of this old alco painted would the side paint job just follow around the back end or was it all black or blue i'm painting one in n scale and cant find any of my Lirr pics anymore
Additionally, George Elwood's site has many pics including one showing the back of unit 613 with this paint scheme... it appears to be all black: Long Island Rail Road (LI) Regards -Mike
http://www.trainweb.org/wnyrhs/Images/fsnyc1102side.jpg A different scheme , but it would appear the LIRR didn't wrap around schemes on the rear end as a policy .
do you have the book diesels of the sunrise trail? its all long island,it's been out of print for a while and only goes up to 1984 but alot of cool pic's FA's F-7'S C420'S F-M'S ,GP-38-2'S if you want to borrow it let me know
ok so after a trip to the lhs what would be a good color for the blue on the sides. they stock humbrol and modelmaster paints and about 4 bottles of poly-s
Don't limit yourself to what a LHS has as far as paints . Order out if needed . http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=floquil+color+chart&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2 I have heard that MP blue might be good for LIRR , but age and grime will change the real deal to an almost black over time .
