I have a virtually new Lionel Turbine that I purchased new when they came out and it may have 30 minutes of total running time. It has been stored in a closet inside the house for many years and I just took it out for a test run. Unfortunately, it has the click and slight bump with each wheel rotation that I have noticed on so many P2K GP 7/9's with split spur gears on the axles. I am puzzled that it only occurs in one direction and not the other. I have been told that NWSL does have replacement gears, but I can't get the truck cover plate off the trucks. The two screws come out but something is holding the cover plates from lifting enough to get the wheel set out for examination? Any help or suggestions would be most welcomed.

    Thank you,
    Geoff

    Hi Geoff,
    did You resolve the problem?
I`ve got the same problem too. Removing cover plate prevent wires connected to plate. You should disconnect 2 black wires from upside of the truck.
I knew about NWSL but I repaired splited gear. One was splited completely the other 3 only on one side.
If You need more info, reply here.
    Regards,
    Darius
