The latest issue of The Railroad Press (number 82) has a very interesting article/photo essay on the Milwaukee Road's western lines in the last few years of operation. Some black & white, lots of color. Includes comments by various MILW fans. Worth checking out- I bought mine at the local Hastings store here in town. No financial advantage to me at all, just a heads-up to my fellow railfans, including you MILW folks.
I knew about this magazine issue. However, nobody within hundreds of miles carries TRP. So, Boxcab E50
Like most magazines, you can have them mailed to you... :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin:
I know. Some of these Milw article issues sell out very quickly. CTC Board has done several in the past- Which sold out so fast that in less than a week there were none left for them to fill orders. Thus the first objective is simply to find an available copy via any source, ASAP. Boxcab E50
Some neat stuff, and some great black and white. Loved the Janney SS shot, as well as the Vendome Loop shots.
The Waldenbooks outlet here in Muskogee carries this magazine- back in Sherman I can find it at Hastings. Had to be a sad feeling to catch the last eastbound freight on this line, and even sadder to see the special runs carrying company equipment. Too much railroad, too little money.........
I was in Dallas yesterday on business, happened in to Discount Model Trains, I picked up an issue, yes, great pictures, thank you for the heads up. The writer and his friend took "thousands" of pictures on that trip. I wish they were available.
The traces have sure been disappearing. Took a ride today, and the trees are even larger where the right of way once ran. Were it not for the old 100 KV line, it would almost be impossible to spot many portions of what once was... Good thing for so many pictures! Boxcab E50
