How would you go about running lighted cars on DCC. I do believe that they were build with dc in mind. I know a few people that melted the the roofs for running on dcc.

Any thing I can buy/ build. I was thinking it may be possible to take out the bulbs and replaced with leds and resistors.

If you are talking about the Kato cars then Kato has brought out an LED lighting kits for this exact reason. But if you already have the regular bulb kits then you should have just enough room for a 3mm LED and a 1/8 watt resistor. It's tight but I have a friend whose done this because of all the bulb kits he already has.

It's a nice kit to work with and no worries about melting the plastic. I picked up the 4 and 6 set of the VIA's and the owner had the bulbs and was running DCC. The roofs were melted but thankfully only on the inside. The other nice thing about the Kato LED kits is they are a bright white LED so for modern passenger cars it gives the look of florescent lights but they give you an amber lens for the older cars to give you the incandescent light look.
