I ecently bought another GP20 from my local train pusher, and the darn thing runs slower than another GP20 I already own. I removed the shells for paint stripping, and noticed that the chassis both look the same. They're both metal split-frame, stamped "LifeLike 1998". I don't see any difference in construction, but can't understand whythere's a speed difference. Both are flywheel-equipped, body-mounted couplers, great detail, etc. I didn't see anything snagging or holding up progress on the newer GP20, so I'm at a loss. Any ideas?
I had a pair of FA's that did that. After a good run-in, and a lube, the slower one seemed to "loosen up" (it was the A). Possible an axle with wheels might be out of gauge and rubbing the truck inner or outer frame.
