    All,

We've had a great start to the resources section, with @gary60s posting over 100 structure plans in the new Resources section. While not many of us are as talented at Gary clearly is in coming up with (relatively) easy to build and great looking structures, most of us have track plans for our layouts, modules, fantasy-builds-for-when-we-win-the-lottery, etc.

So, let's share! These don't need to be all out, fully 3D detailed renderings. Simple plans showing how to lay out a classification yard or engine facility, passenger terminals, etc. The idea is for this to be a resource we can all access to learn from, as well as ooh and ah over. Sectional track layouts (e.g. Unitrack) are also encouraged.

The Resource Manager can accept native AnyRail, XTrak-Cad, CAD DXF , Google Sketch Up, and SCARM files. You can also upload any other software produced plans if you place the files into a ZIP compressed file.

I have started things off by loading a simple AnyRail version of the JACALAR. It does not include any terrain or structure indicators, but is a med/large Unitrack layout. After uploading that plan, I have added a number of additional fields that can be selected, to describe many of the features of your plan.

When I started my layout, there weren't many resources in the late 70's. I had an idea what I wanted to accomplish and started laying track. One thing I did learn in the school of hard knocks was to have a structure at least partially built, or at least have an accurate footprint for and structures or industries. A few structures did have to be scratch built to fit in the layout but everything did work out.

Todays modelers sure have a hand up on me with what is available today.
