I just finished adding the detail parts to this tonight. It's a Kato JNR C57 4-6-2. I love the look of these locos, they look so very fast!
Well for now I have this customized 2-8-0 that I bought that kinda looks like an H10. It has a TCS Z2 in it and boy, does it pull. The weathering was drybrushed by the builder, and I have been thinking of ways to improve it.
Nope. It's "level" track, at least as level as a set of folding table legs can make a HCD with 2" insulation foam glued to it. The only depression is where the camera is. I thought it would be a realistic angle for train-watching. Is it really 32? I guess I don't know how to count. That might be something that I need to learn before I get to school! After this video was taken I gave it a facelift with some spare parts laying around and I also added coal to the tender by painting a piece of scrap foam black, dipping it in WS coal and fitting it into the coal bunker. It improved the appearance a lot.
My not-currently-in-storage steam, including a couple of current projects (the Y-3 needs pickup leads run to the tender- all three K4s need some minor touch-ups and relettering, one still needs a motor, and a previous owner inexplicably soldered the middle one's valve gear together). Not pictured: two 4-4-0s that I'm going to use for a Golden Spike diorama. Everything else (the rest of the project pile since they all need work in one way or another) is boxed up and staying that way until I have a layout, so that I don't keep getting sidetracked by other things and then wind up complaining about how I still don't have a layout.
Here is my favorite, a Kato mike custom detailed and weathered by my late father Monte Hofmann (MMR 443).
soundtraxx econami 100, working great so far, buts its a bit of a tight fit in the tender. Thats my test track, but its 11" radius
I like that 2-6-6-2. It looks very nice! Not sure about the MILW J. The N&W folks might be forming a lynch mob.....
My son and each have a J,his is still N&W. As long as I am at it here is some thing for the southern fans
Micro Ace 2-8-0 kitbash into a freelance 0-8-0 still working on it ,but it runs. I used the stock MA drawbar. The undercab air tank is to hid the bottom of the motor
Been holding off since March ! Comeon...thats a new record for me Here is my idea of steam... http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ja2ZuEn6eK0/TJe7dXOUx-I/AAAAAAAAATQ/bv_JRDMoGR8/s1600/coffee-cup-steam.jpg
Painted the driver tires on a couple engines this weekend. A Key Imports Big Boy and a More/LIK SP GS-1.
