Alan: The LRC100 is a block detection device. You set up a LRC 100 in each block on your layout. The loco in order to be detected by the LRC100 must have a new Lenz mini series gold decoder installed. When that loco enters the block, the data with the loco number is registered on the LH100 (handheld device) of the LZV100 Lenz command station. It will also work with the Lenz 90 set. My question is what good is it, with all the loco's that have other decoders installed? I have 6 loco's with the new gold mini series decoder and the rest have the Lenz 521W or Digitrax drop-in decoders. The rest is a very considerable number of loco's. I use the traditional Lenz block occupancy detection system telling me a block is occupied. I really don't need to know the loco number in the block. Lenz should have designed this to be used with all decoders of recent vintage. That's my opinion for what it's worth. It would probably be great for some one using the new Lenz gold mini series decoders in all their loco's. At $60 a pop per block that's relatively expensive, for something that isn't universal in it's design. Stay cool and run steam.....
