The Lenz LB101 instruction manual says this device can be used to operate a low current signal or the LR101 feedback encoder. Has anyone a schematic for operating a signal with this device, or better yet, doing both, operating the signa AND the feedback encoder?

    Thanks,

You can't operate a signal with the block occupancy detector from Lenz. I've discussed this at length with Debbie Ames who runs Lenz NA, several years ago.

It supports the feedback module which will tell you what block your train is in. All the block occupancy detectors on a layout are wired to the feedback device. Eight detectors can be wired to each feedback device.

You need a separate signal system to operate signals in each block.

The instruction manual should have been reworded years ago.

It is possible to use the LB101 as an input to a signal system, but I don't believe it can be used to drive a signal directly. The outputs on these devices basically work like a switch, connecting the output terminals to ground.

The new lenz BM2 and BM3 devices are able to drive signals directly AND send occupancy information to an LR101 at the same time. I haven't actually bought any to play with yet. Lenz has the manuals for these on the website now.
