I have been working on this for afew weeks, but have not got much done, with limited funds I managed to get some scrap wood that lows sells, and some brackets for the around the room track. I want two lanes of track, and maybe afew turnouts. Building a removeable section at my door will be a challenge, but I know how to do it, I plan on useing re-railers on each end of the removable section, and where it connects. I'll probley end up with more then a 2% grade, because the oval part, is about 4" lower than the highest point on the opesite side of the room.
Flat Landers! You flatlanders you don't know what you are missing...grin! My layout has very few flat spots on it. Grades, grades, grades everywhere a grade. Jerry, is right despite my hooting at the "Flat Landers". When you are first starting out the less grades the better. Take your time. Try building a grade first. You will know if that works for you and take it from there. I think I've already given you tips on how to start. And, I'm still looking for those Bachmann F units. You are starting out...just like the rest of us. Nothing to be ashamed of. I had more fun with my loop layout then I have with any since. Except maybe the one I have now. Grin! Bragging rights exercised: Yesterday, a friend of mine stopped by (yes I have a friend...how about that?). I ran my 40 car train and 30 car train without any casualties. He was amazed at how smooth the trains operated. A number of years back, I built an O and S Scale combined layout for him. Now, we are currently making some alterations. He commented, on how glad he was that I was working on his layout. He didn't stay long as duty called. Lot's of oh's and wow's. Nothing like it... right?
