Well, I had to vote that it's still on paper. Although it could be further along. I just haven't had quite enough extra money to finish the basement. New N stuff comes out, and I buy it, if I have the cash.... So there goes more lumber and drywall money. But I'm slowly getting closer. Boxcab E50
The Belmar Valley has been stuck at about 85 to 90 percent for a little over a year. Budget cut backs have been the main contributor, but I must confess that I’ve have not had a great deal of ambition (and a load of household projects). As this is a sleepy pass through on the N&W, things move pretty slowly there and so have I. I suppose some things could get done despite the budget constraints and maybe they will when the weather turns colder. Here are a couple of overhead shots of my layout as it looks today:
Just moved, train stuff in boxes, zero budget. If I find an appropriate table, I might throw something together, however. Frank
Tis' too nice outdoors to be indoors. I have railfanning, paintball, and yard work to do, I'll play trains in the winter.
This is where I’m at. I can’t work on it till December being I’m away at college. I still need to lay roadbed and plaster cloth the thing. Definitely not enough room for an airport
I'd guess we're 80% done--on the first pass. Because this is a hobby, we tend to work on whims. (The royal we, BTW, is Jeanne and I.) J: "Let's build a university today!" P: "Nah, I'd rather detail the tanker port." J: "Well, you tell me what to do on the tanker port, and then you can go build the core of the university?" P: "I don't know what I'm going to do with the tanker port until I do it!" J: "OK, then we'll build the university." We're two years into building a fairly large layout. Some days we make a second pass on detailing a scene while others are still in the pink foam stage. I'd guess. overall, we're about 50% done--but we will never be finished. So make that 49.9999. . .n % finished. My railimages URL is: http://www.railimages.com/gallery/petenolan
After a long hiatus, involving a move and lack of space, the layout (such as it is) saw the light of day yesterday. It has about 50% of the cork roadbed glued down (done last fall before the move). Glued down the first section of track today. It's only 3'x6'-8" so it shouldn't take forever to at least get the mainline down (I hope). Regards Ed
Great work everyone! I've installed the 2nd bridge over the Tuolomne River, put the river base in, and am starting on the scenery:
All bench work completed past weekend. Just finished painting backdrop this evening. Hope to post pictures at some point in the future.
You can see pics at my rail Images album. Seems like my layout progress is mostly stop instead of progress. Too many other things to do.
Here is part of the JJJ&E Railroad. It is 60% completed. You can see many more pictures of the JJJ&E at: The JJJ&E Railroad
I've started a small shunting layout based on Bernie Kempinski's Chase Marine Terminal layout that was used in the oNeTrak article in MR well saying based......is. When it came to size, function, operating style - it had everything I wanted. I've only started the first half so far and track is down, plus I built a highway bridge as a scene divider. The second module so far will have to wait until I solve a storage problem - and build shelving in the room that the layout will sit on. Will post some pics when I make some repairs to the ole' PC
I just started benchwork 9 days ago. This layout I have planned will be a daunting task. I can see me still doing benchwork 2 months from now before I start sub roadbed.
Well I'd have to say the layout is at the 90% complete for this stage but if I go ahead with the next extension then it is only 45% complete. The first plan is what exists now and the second is the future expansion. The pics are ones taken recently.
I voted for the on paper option, although I have the benchwork finished and cork underlay down. No pics or trackplan yet, not quite finalised until I receive all the switches.
