This is a sketch of the train rooms and the proposed Milwaukee Road proto layout I will be starting. It will be from Portage Wis. to Tunnel City Wis..It starts in one room with the P[ortage yard then goes around the wall through the doorway, through all towns on line. When it gets to Tunnel City it will enter tunnel through the wall and back into Portage yard. I decided to make it an island layout instead of around the walls because I can get what I wanted in without going to two levels, also I can walk just about all the way around it. :D

    Andy,

It looks great so I gather the layout i an end to end design? although it has a return or is it a continuous loop?

A currently had a continuous loop on my layout but would like to have an end to end option fir better train operations.

Do you have a track plan of the layout yet?

Paul, It will be continuous double track mainline. The way I had it pictured is that you start out will your train that has been made up in Portage. As you go through the different towns you will drop off full cars and pick up empties. Tomah also has a yard for any transfers. When the train goes through the wall at Tunnel City it will come back out in Portage, Just as though it came up from Milwaukee. There will also be a train running in the oppisite direction. The track will jump down to one in Wi. Dells and Tunnel City then back to two so you will have to do a little schedualing to make it work. I will be doing track design one town at a time 'cause each town has something different in it, I will post them as I get them drawn.

Ok when the image box appears it already has http:// in the box when you pasted the image into the box it also has http:// so instead of one your link had 2 of them. I just remove one of them and everything was fine.

Rick, The tightest radius will be coming out of the yard, inside track at 22". after that I will be able to open them up a bit, probably 28" or 30". I think I can do this becuase I don't have to be at any specific place on the layout,I can either move in a little or out. Also the 2' width is not hammered in stone I can fudge a little if I have to!! [IMG]
