I know the last CB&Q, GN and NP engines were repainted in 1977, so it took 7 years before the BN was all Cascade green. But three years later, the Frisco was absorbed. How long was it until the BN was all-green again? What was the last engine left in Mandarin and white on the BN?
That question may be best answered on the FMIG site: http://www.fmig.org Also, ask on the two Yahoo groups that cover Frisco.
That's a great question that I sure don't have the answer to, would make for an interesting bit of trivia tho. I believe the last BN "Frisco" locomotives were all green by summer of 83 - they sure seemed to be in a hurry to get it done. -Mike
Marre and Harper's Frisco Diesel Power has a table that shows renumber and repaint dates for the former Frisco engines on Pages 23-26. The table includes a footnote that indicates July 31,1983 was set as a deadline for finishing the job. The Following Locomotives are listed as being repainted in 7-1983 (no day of month is given): SW1500 339 (44) SW1500 340 (45) GP38-2 435 (2290) GP38-2 463 (2318) GP38-2 473 (2328) GP50 791 (3100) Numbers in parenthesis are the BN numbers for these locomoitves, and SLSF791 was actually delivered as BN 3100, but in Frisco paint. (the other Frisco ordered GP50s (790,792-799) were delivered in BN paint). Most of the repainting was actually performed at the Springfield Shops. After further review..... P.S. the FMIG site is actually hosted at http://www.frisco.org You're right- I forgot about the change. It WAS at fmig.org once upon a time, and that was the first URL that came to mind.
