I'm always on the lookout for a good way to clean the track. I was at the LHS the other day and saw a Labelle 105 track cleaning kit, it sounded good so I picked it up. I've had a section of track that has defied concentrated applications of my bright boy and alcohol to the point where I was convinced it was an electrical connection gone bad somehow. A conservative application of 105 to the one of the cleaning pads that came with it and the result was close to miraculous. Have to say I've never had that amount of improvement in performance with so little effort. This stuff cleans the track and claims to leave a film that improves electrical conductivity (the instructions say to apply a very thin film of it to the track after cleaning). The wheels of your loco are part of the cleaning process, as a means of spreading it to hard to reach areas. Anyway, I'm happy with it.
