Daylight 4449, first, let me welcome you to Trainboard. Second, yes, the L&N referred to their 2-8-4's as "Big Emmas." According to the late George Drury, the name "Cumberland" was proposed but never caught on. The L&N 2-8-4's were class M-1 which probably triggered the nickname. If I remember right, the B&O 2-8-8-4 class EM-1's were also known as "Big Emmas."
