    Gee, thanks for the invite! [IMG]

    Paul, have you more MoPac cabeese than locos, now? I reckon you should motorise the cabs and use the locos as cabeese. That way you'll have the correct balance of motive power to cabs. :D

    (unless you are running three cabs per train, that is ;) )

    Locomotives = 20
    caboose = 9

    Still have enough room for a few more cabeese :D

    Paul;

    Awesome shots, makes my heart skip a beat.
    I think Jason's right, a few would look great weathered. Should be ready soon to post my first caboose.

    Keep on modeling MoPac.

    I weathered 3 of the casbeese using an airbrush and acrylic paint, here are pics of the finished ones.

    In this first pic the caboose on the right has been weathered, can you tell?

    Paul,
    Did you use the MT Caboose End Rails? Did you saw the old ones off?

    Just wondered...Because I saw a package of them in LHS today. They come 12 to a pack. They have pretty fine detail, :cool: so I picked one up. Hard to paint them though. :mad:

    Working on...let's say...an upgrade to a Atlas MOPAC caboose I picked up. Not really a bash...Replacing the trucks, end rails, and the stove pipe. Adding a little white and red paint here and there.

    Oh yeah - found that decal set today too! Don't think it'll be too long before that Conrail hack disappears and becomes a MOPAC Caboose.

    Did you redo the grabirons on any of your conversions?

    The MT caboose ends are delrin, like diesel handrails, so you can try the Tamiya paint. OTOH, unlike the diesel handrails, they are on the ends of the caboose and not subject to flexing like handrails unless you touch the end of the caboose. I usually just spray paint them with regular paint after they are on the caboose and dullcote, too. No worries. They seem to stay painted much better than diesel handrails of the same material.

    These end rails are the MT caboose ends and are painted. Only the white safety paint is coming off.

    flash,

    Thats correct I just used normal acrylic paint on the handrails as they are not as flexible as locomotive handrails

    Tom,

    no I'm a 3 foot modeller lol if it looks good at 3 feet distance its fine with me. Maybe as I gain more experience I will try adding detail parts like grab irons etc.

    I remember reading an article or tip some time back about using RC car paint for handrails, as it's designed to bend and flex without flaking off. The only thing I remember about it is that the paint had to be applied completely around the railing so as to make a "tube" of paint (something about it needing to be a continuous coating to maintain its properties)

    Colonel: I missed the weathering. That is really a great dirt job! [IMG]

    I need to do that to my cars. I tend to use chalks and make rust streaks; your weathering is more "road grime" style. I would like to have both types on different cars my layout. It is more prototypical and keeps all my cars from looking like they were weathered by the same person. (Which, of course, they were! [IMG] ) About the best I can do is to vary between chalks, air brush, and dry brush acrylics...plus do them at different times. Hopefully, that will give a little weathering variation.

    Nice job there, Colonel!

    Speaking of weathering - 'nother question. What to do about the car's underbody - Rust, dirt, grime?? How's it done?

    Does anybody do it?

    Colonel - Yessir. What color(s) do you use for the underside?
