Does anybody have a clue what gray closely represents the gray KCS uses on there AC4400's and 70ACe's? I think it's close to either Modelflex reefer gray or Model Master medium gray, but I'm not sure... any help would be appreciated.

I am unfamiliar with the model master color, but when we painted locos for KCS in the 90's, the gray used was essentially Battleship Gray. That would be the new unweathered tone, as it weathers it lightens up, so the reefer gray by Modelflex should be a good match. Oh, and that was when I worked at a coup[le of different private backshops, Morrison-Knudsen and Livingston Rebuild Center that we did those KCS paints.

I have always used Model Master Medium Gray. It seems like its the closest. Its my understanding that in the late 80's, KCS would use just about anything as long as it was close.

I think I used L&N Grey for my ex-KCS units...
