Last time I was thru Parsons, back in December 2000 on my way home from Miami, OK, I noticed the shop buildings were still standing. Did UP close the shops down like they shut Ray Yard down? (I was there at Denison when they tore down the carshops)

To stray off the beaten path a bit, somewhere in my photos I have pics of GP7 108, still in the green & yellow, on the Kiamichi. I learned from the CMO of Kiamichi that when the 108 was brought into the shop for repairs & prep for repainting, it was discovered that the 567 prime mover' fuel racks were set so that the unit put out 1750 HP. Instead of derating the prime mover, Kiamichi went ahead with the repairs and repaint, and the unit came out as the 905- numbered in the 900 series for all GP9s. Externally it still looks like a chopnosed GP7. Had the HP been 1500, it woulda ben renumbered in the 700 series, reserved for GP7s.

A side note- in 1998 Kiamichi got the four ex-Katy GP38s from UP, painted in UP colors. They are now KRR 3811-3814, in the burgundy & white. Since Kiamich is now part of RailAmerica, no telling where they are now, or if they've been repainted into RA's new scheme.
