The only one that matters is the SD70MAC. :D They're still a month away, but already I wait for the mail man at my mail box....just hoping. :D

Not to burst your bubble, Hoss, but given Kato's track record you will be lucky to get these by the end of April. But since Kato doesn't seem to have a lot on it's plate right now (American stuff anyway) maybe we'll get lucky. Nevertheless, I still check my mailbox everyday, too!!! [IMG] [IMG]

I am so VERY glad Kato is doing the 70MAC's. I am a big fan of Atlas, but I think Kato has a slight edge in power, and when you are pulling long coal drags, ya need MORE POWER!!! I was running an 83-car train of coalveyors at a train show a few weeks back with three SD40-2's and a C30-7. At one point the three leading "-2's" became uncoupled from the train and took off....the lone C30-7 just kept pulling the coal drag like nothing happened!!! My fellow clubmembers were pretty amazed, as was I. Of course, this was on flat terrain, but still.

Oh, and Kato doing the "porch-mounted ditch lights" doesn't hurt either!!! [IMG]

Yeah, well....I figure I'll get them when I get them. The sooner the better though!!!

I think Atlas is doing a better job of detailing right now (unless these new SD70MAC's change my mind about that), but I'll agree that Kato has more pulling power. I just wish I could get my hands on a few new Dash 9's...

In just over a week, I picked up 5 Dash 9s. I now have 9 of them. I just can't help myself, I love these beasts.

    Bob

Someday I'll learn how to count or put all of my roster on disc, I have 11 of these beauties.

I keep seeing them pop up on Ebay but just haven't had the money to get them. My LHS had a BNSF Dash 9 from the last production BRAND NEW on his shelf for $76. I didn't have the money at the time so I went back the next week to get it and someone beat me to it. [IMG]

He's got a TON of SD40-2's in BNSF and Santa Fe for the same price....I'm thinking of picking a couple of them up...

Kato still has ditch lites and Atlas yet has reached that level. I understand the SD70s will have porch mounted ditch lites.

Well I did have a SD70 on pre order but have since cancelled because of other purchases lol.

I doh ope to pick one up locally in Aus when they are released or if not I will just bide my time on eBay.

feel both Kato and Atlas are excellent models but I do love those ditch lights on the KATO models

It will be interesting to see how Kato do the porch-mounted lights. Ditch lights really do make a big difference to a model locomotive!

Can't wait for those SD70MAC's to come out. My wife and wallet don't necessarily feel the same. :D

Hey Hoss, email me off line. May have an idea for you about some dash 9's.

I am rather pleased that Kato are producing the SD70MAC, as I don't have any use for them on my railroad, so I can save my money [IMG]

I am definetly getting 2 CSX and I was hoping to get one BNSF executive, but the funds for all three will probably not be there by the time they are released. I'll just have to wait and maybe pick one up later on Ebay, the great equalizer in these times of limited runs. [IMG]

I was mostly talking about the paint I guess. I think Atlas does a much better job of painting the Heritage 2 BNSF paint scheme than Kato. I just hope for the SD70MAC's they've got the right color yellow this time....

I'm with you!! I reserved 4 of those things!! My wife is gonna shoot me when $300 shows up on the credit card.

I managed to pick up 2 (and possibly a 3rd this afternoon) of the latest production Dash 9's over the weekend. That brings me to 3 total...or 4 if I get the other one I'm looking at. I think I'd better hold off on any more engine purchases for a little bit....before she really DOES kill me. :D
