Hi, I hate to bring up the same topic over and over, but has anyone had any luck matching Kato's new UP Armor yellows for the City of LA/Excursion train sets? Kato's Armor Yellow has a more Orange hue now days.
Bill Denton, in his Sep/Oct 2012 article in N Scale Railroading, about how to modify the Kato COLA Dome Lounge-Observation car into a Mid-train Dome Lounge, recommends this combination as a very close match using Tru-Color Paints: 15 parts UP Armour Yellow to 1 part Milwaukee Road Orange Bill wanted to not have to paint the whole car, just the parts he modified and added, and in the photos of the finished model, I can't see any difference between Bill's mixture and the stock COLA Kato paint color on his modified car, or the unmodified car alongside it for comparison. This solution has been around now for about 2.5 years. Cheerio! Bob Gilmore
I use Tru-Color UP yellow. It is as close as I have found, right out of the bottle. They use actual paint chips for the color match work.
