Looking for some help on lights for a Kato SD40-2 mid! A link to a thread or someone that had fixed this problem. Bought off ebay. Engine runs fine but not lights either direction. Tilting engine side to side, lights just flicker very briefly! Any and @ll help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks

Are you running DCC? Have you looked inside to see if it has a decoder in it? That sound like it has a decoder that comes on when contacting the rails, but the lights may have been set to off previously and they quickly turn off. Or maybe a certian function cv set. It does seem funny though, since on a dc board the lights and the motor all get power from the same contacts.

Treads clean ? All the 'blackening' off them ?

    Things to try:

    1. Clean the track. All of it.
    2. Clean the treads on the locomotive wheels.
    3. If you're running DC, check continuity from the wheel treads to the motor. This would help electrical pickup.
