My weekend project. Some time ago, years , I've got two of these Kato's. Now I started to install decoders. These engines should get sound. At first I had to mill the weight which is under the hood. The ESU decoder is a little bit too thick. ZOOM IN Next step glueing the speakers. I used the ESU 16mm twin speakers, with 100 Ohm together. ZOOM IN And the "brother":
ZOOM IN This engine should get only a light weathering. So I masked the windows and used Dullcote and flat earth for the bottom: ZOOM IN ZOOM IN Last step: cleaning the wheels! ZOOM IN
Nice looking loco, If I didnt model the BN I would almost certanly do the CN (but in the old stripy livery). How good is the sound unit in that loco? I have not really looked into sound yet as its a fair way off on the things to do list. Any chance you could post a small video of it?
I've no video camera. My friend takes the webvideos. But sound generally you can hear - and see the engines - at my site under webvideo at: home, Braunlage, Unna Wolfgang
Love the paint flaking effect around the N. How many cars does that SD40-2 pull before wheel slippage?
LOL, that's not flaking paint... It's the outline of the North American continent. Funny you should mention that, because for the longest time I thought it was flaking paint too, until I got a closer look.
