Hey everybody, Just wondering if any one knows if Kato will produce all the road names for the P42DC I have heard they will be making in the future? I am really hoping they will do Via Rail Canada's as they have just ordered 21. Also, isn't there a commuter/regional passenger RR out east thats got a few? Also, do you know if the Superliners are phase I/II/III? Thanks for the Information! Dane
They should probibly say something about them very soon. Remember, Kato has not said they will be P42DC's (though they most likely will be). They could be AMD103's or the P32DC, etc. (all virtually the same externally though).
Hey BC, Glad to see someone as excited as I am about the Genesis being produced. The only commuter lines on the east coast here that I know of owning some are Amtrak and Metro North here in NY. I personally want one to make an N-scale version of Amtrak's "postal express" which I've had the pleasure of seeing in person. Below is a pic of it. Happy Railroading! As long as they make them in Metro-North's scheme. Connecticut DOT is supposed to take delivery of a few also. Supposedly, they'lll be painted in New Haven's McGinnis scheme. That would be a classy scheme.
AMD-103 was the original GE model designation for its "Genesis"-type-carbody passenger locomotive. After AMTRAK dumped a new one of these locos from the Sunset Limited in a swamp in Alabama a few years back some RR pundits wondered if the AMD meant A-MTRAK M-arine D-iver. The Kato USA URL listed here http://www.katousa.com./html/poster1.htm says only "Genesis" and does not specify which model. The photo of the Superliner car is one in Phase IV paint and appears to be one of the new series of cars from Bombardier. eNjoy Don Brown
The whole Genesis style of locomotive is commenly referred to as the "Mud Dart" by many rail fans because of the accident in AL a few years back where the lead engine went like a dart into the muddy river. Very sad story, and I think both engineer and conductor were killed (as well as others).
