I notice they are doing Nickel Plate. How accurate is this model to anything that the Nickel Plate ran?
Early this morning I checked www.4nscale.com and they had it listed. Under the Kato updated links section the "Mike" page is listed. [ 01 November 2001: Message edited by: sd9043mac ]</p>
The Nickel plate was known for its Berkshires - they also had some consolidations for branchline & local service, I am not sure if they had many mikes - if they did they would have been Lima built that were basically shortened Berks.
The Nickel Plate did have some Light Mikados, such as NKP 587 at the Indiana Transportation Museum. Also, the steam roster from the Nickel Plate Historical Society lists several Mikados that they owned.
Well i ordered mine as I didn't want to be leftout as last time. I hope GHQ will rerun their conversions again.
There is a picture of NKP 687 2-8-2 at the Fallen Flags website - Fallen Flags I learned something new today - was not aware that NKP had so many Mikes!
Great locomotive, pain in the rear to put a decoder in. My wish list for the Kato Mike: DCC Friendly Details Already Applied -I can't think of anything else to do to make them much better. I have decoders in 2 and 2 more that are slated for Back EMF/GHQ conversions.
