I am adding light kits to some of the new Kato Orient Express cars I just received and not getting the "old" lighting effect I am looking for. The kit I am using is 11-214 indirect lighting and I tried the little (VERY little!) orange piece designed to give the incandescent effect. Ran into other issues with fit so I modified the install procedure to correct. Then I had the idea to use kapton tape on the lens. The tape I have is very thin amber colored and when I applied to the entire length of the lens it provided more of the incandescent yellow/orange light I was looking for. Too light now for good pictures so I will take some later when it is darker to see how it turns out.
I use the orange filter when lighting my modern cars. Otherwise the lighting seems too harsh. The kapton tape looks great in yours.
