I have a N Scale Kato 200-4 Bullet Train (4070/4071/4072/4076) for sale. I bought it new quite a while ago and it has sat in its box ever since. I did run it on my layout prior to posting this ad and I have posted a short video on YouTube. I am asking 150 USD or best offer plus shipping.

Any idea what DCC decoder might work with this?

That is a good question and I don't have an answer for that. Maybe someone else here might be able shed some light on that topic or perhaps if you reach out to one of the decoder companies they might be able to tell you.

I’m not certain but you might want to research/look at Kato decoder 29-351.

From the style of the box it appears to be an older release so I don't think it would be a "decoder ready" model.

That is correct it is an older release. I am pretty sure it was purchased when Kato first produced them

Yeah, not 'DCC Friendly'. I'm not finding any n scale decoders that mention compatibility with the older (i.e. earlier release) Kato bullet models.
    Good luck with the sale!

It was a good question to ask. If I find any further info I will post it.

I have have bit more information. I took the unit to the individual who does my decoder installations for me. His comments were as follows. The power unit is not unlike the Kato RDCs and he said a smaller ESU decoder would work fine. However the two end units also need decoders for DCC control of headlights. So it can be done but it's not one decoder its three and probably best to install LEDs to replace the bulbs.

TCS KOD8-A is what I used. I also used the stock LED headlight to keep the appearance.
