actually, the nose is right for the numbers, BUT they are not SD45-2's, but were...they were rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen into SD40M-2's.
most of the MK rebuilt SD45's (they also rebuilt SD40's into this class) were outwardly SD45's, so no big whoop. They also rebuilt 10 SD45's with GP40 rear hoods and radiators. These numbers just need ditch lights and air conditioning to be close enough Here is one of the funky 10
My only complaint is that they're speed lettered, not Roman. But I'm still going to order both numbers tomorrow at the LHS!
See Kato will throw SP modelers a bone. I hope they do them with the correct high mounted brake cylinder trucks. The SP roman lettered units would be nice too but maybe they are avoiding the not having the SP nose light package and L window flak. Now if we can also get the SP SD40's from Kato again too!
Well it's good to see something in sp even if it is the speed lettering. I can back date it with some paint, decals, and a lot of grime.
backdating the loco will be about half a paint-job, you will have remove all lettering and the stripe on the frame.
