I may be reading it wrong at my dealer's website but it looks like if I want more than one road number coach or a coach cafe I still have to buy sets with viewliners or P42's I don't want.
That would do for extra coaches, I've done it with my second Super Chief set, but to get a cafe coach it looks like you still have to buy a set with a viewliner in it. I think Kato style sets and add-on sets can be a good idea for name trains that run in relatively fixed consists but in this case individual cars may have been better.
AMTRAK Viewliners My absolute favorite AMT passenger car, by a mile and then some...... I live a quarter mile from the Amtrak station and both Amtrak trains hit here twice per day each way, N and S. The Meteor always has Viewliners and they are my favorite. A couple of months back, HermanZGerman visited Orlando, I went up for a visit to a longtime friend, and we railfanned at the historic Kissimmee RR Station Downtown, and the Meteor showed up with 3 Viewliners on the consist. I frankly didn't give a hank about the others but bent Warren's ear about how much I like those darn Viewliners. After selling off my entire Amtrak fleet a few months back, I regretted it, and now trying to replace them. I just bought a P42 and a F40PH, both Kato, and a friend gave me three ConCor Superliners to tide me over. I am now in the hunt for either ConCor or Kato Viewliners and that will satiate me. Two Viewliners is the common configuration on all the passenger trains heading out of DC Union Station through Alexandria Union Station to points south. The set is missing about 3 coaches and the standard diner that is normally in the consist in addition to the Amcafe. I anticipate a Kato "booster" set in the near future so we can acquire the full consist 8<) Cheers, Joel in Northern Virginia
Kato is going to sell single coaches??? I ordered the set because of those Amfleets, and now they tell me that I also could have ordered just the Amfleets?
From what I see, it looks like they are selling them in sets again...just different phases. Hopefully they will get smart and sell them seperatly.
