I have a Kato 20-230 single crossover and have power fed from both directions on each track. Train runs straight thru but when I switch to the other track the engine stops halfway thru the turnout. It is factory set for power routing. Help!

Do you have different polarity on the two sides? The double crossover assumes that the track polarity on both tracks is the same (i.e. from bottom red/black/red/black)

Make sure the polarity is the same on both sides. For example T-Trak standards wants you to wire BWWB (B for blue W for white) but this will cause a short if your trains pass through the cross over. Wiring is BWBW solves this, but if your track loops back to the crossover it will create a reverse loop and will need something like an AR1 or PM42 to control the reverse loop operation.

A trick I learned from someone here on TB almost 9 years ago >>>>

    When wiring in feeders...

Take an old scrap boxcar you arent gonna use on your layout anymore. Grab some RED paint and spray one side. Take some BLACK paint and spray the other side. Put it on the track where RED correspondes to the track with the RED feeder. As you are wiring in feeders...move the car down the track ( even thru a crossover). Even when you get to the backside of track work...where things are opposite as you look from the front....you will always know which rail is RED and which rail Is BLACK. Sure helped when I did mine.
