Got a Lionel Scout in 1961. Got away from trains a few years after that, stayed away for 45 years and got back into it when a grandson came along. Still have the Scout, and it runs fine. I tend towards being a 'toy train operator' rather than a 'model railroader'. O27 is what I mostly run. In the last year I have become interested in Marx trains. Brad
Welcome to TrainBoard! Lucky you, that the Scout is still in your possession. Wish I still had my youth trains. Oh well. Have fun with the grandson!
That must be something to still have a piece from back then that runs fine. Wish I could say I've held up as well as your Scout! Welcome aboard, and hope you and the little guy make many great memories...
Brad, Welcome! I also tend towards being a 'toy train operator' with grandkids. I use some extra inexpensive used parts as a “crash” train set, to let the grandkids get though their “crash” stage. It has been fun working trains with my grandkids. This forum has been a great help to me! Bob
