    hello everybody,

just joined the forum, because after 14 yrs of marriage and subscriber to modelrailroader mag, the wife and I bought a place and I can set up a nice layout. I will be starting from the begining, empty room, cash, and alot of time(cant work disabled). I choose n scale because my room size is 10' by 12'. I would like to model passenger trains and n scale will let me use long trains and long main line. I will be using Kato products. I guess my first question is DC(old school) or DCC(new school)

    thank you,
    Zephead

Hi Zephead, Welcome to the TrainBoard. I've enjoyed DC since 1947. However, from what I've seen at shows, I'm sure I'd prefer DCC...if only I were your age. ;)

Welcome aboard zephead! sorry to hear you are disabled ... there is a few of us that are as well. If I had a larger budget I would go DCC in a NY minute ... as it is, I started out 40 yrs ago in DC , took a 38 year break to raise a family and scratch out a living and it is hard to break old habits when new ones want to come along. DCC is a huge improvement over DC in all respects to say the least . Please share fotos of your progress that we may enjoy the hobby that much more !!! besides, you may do something that is cool that we can apply to our layouts !!!~

Welcome aboard! I suppose the first question is whether the expense of DCC will add enough value for the extra expense. That, I suppose, depends on how you see yourself operating your pike...although if you're debating it, it may well be worth making the investment now so you wouldn't have to retrofit later. Enjoy!

Welcome to Trainboard, zephead. What part of New York do you live in? I was born back there many years ago. Look forward to your progress on the layout.
