Yeah, I went and bought a new camera, the Canon digital 350D rebel.
Here are the first photos taken with it.

Paul, those are excellent images. The depth of field is remarkable, what lens did you use, and what is its aperture range?

What were you using before this new toy? Those photos always looked just fine.

    Paul,
I have been looking at this very same camera and seeing your excellent photos is making it very hard to resist.

It helps that you have excellent material to photograph, but I see an improvment over your other shots which were hard to beat.

    Paul,
That's the same camera I bought, but over here, we call it a Digital Rebel XT [IMG] I am really loving mine!

OK, that explains why I couldn't find the "350" listed on the Canon/US Rebel page.

Sensational Paul....Great DOF and macro. What distance was the lens from those dudes on the logs? Under 4"?

DOF looks the equal of my Nikon 16mm lens, which cost me an arm and a leg (over $16,000), and you have the benifit of digital [IMG]

Hiya, that wasn't a macro shot really, it was a crop from a larger photo (just over A3 size)

Thats an expensive lens you have as well, I am just about to get the 28-300mm macro zoom and that costs around $500

    Cheers

    Wow Paul,

I too have been looking at the Digital Rebel XT. Man, what great photos. Maybe a 12 months with minimum payment at Best Buy is looking very hard to resist!

The clarity is superb Paul.... Truly a great camera.

that 16mm Nikon lens is set to 'infinity' for anything more than 18" from the lens, and DOF is virtually unlimited. Mind you, for the price it would want to be.....

I once took a photo of my buddy sitting on my Harley wearing my colors.... The lens of the camera was probably 12" from the rear number plate when I took the shot and I got him in, all within DOF, from above his head to the ground. A great shot.... You get what ya pay for.

Still, those are some of the best digital shots I've seen..... A great buy Paul

    Abso-blooming-lutely incredible!

Paul, you have done the impossible - surpassed your previous shots

Looking at the file sizes of your pics (130000 - 160000), I think I may be compressing mine to much, but no way I could come near that clarity! Wish I could afford such a camera :(

One word of advice: if you don't have UBS 2.0 on your PC, you might want to consider getting it before getting a Rebel XT [IMG] It will decrease your photo upload times significantly.
