Since the Model Expo fire sale of a few years ago, my spare parts box has been overflowing. For those of you not around then, a firm called Model Expo decided to get out of trains, and sold kits like the Bachmann Car Repair Shop for about $1.00, shipping included. I bought about 100 of them. Besides building them 5 kits long--they do fit together end-to-end, I've used the parts for everything from skyscrapers to tobacco sheds, to warves. Each kit came with six doors, and a number of tool holders, car lifts, etc. So what to do with them? Jeanne's embarked on an ambitious playground/ballpark project, which dragged out all the spare parts. To keep her company, and not embark on too ambitious a project myself, I started looking over the sprues. So, six doors, a few cranes arms turned 90 degrees, a few tool racks, etc--all from the same kit--I came up with a Munitions Storage Shed for the Plutonium Reactor: Probably took about ten minutes each. I'll spray-bomb them later, then heavily weather them. [Edit] Looks like I've got a sticky keyboard, again. [ December 29, 2005, 09:23 PM: Message edited by: Pete Nolan ]
Add a cluster of WARNING and DANGER signs, and you've got a winner! I like it a lot! Nice idea, Pete. I still have all my ME shed kits (and some others ) stashed away, but will use them.
Here they are up by the Plutonium Plant. That's a guard tower to the right. In the foreground, a crew struggles to make sense out of an oversize switch stand. "Whatdya think? Did the plutonium make it grow?"
