"Here comes the sun, doo-doo-doo-doo, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right

Here comes the sun, doo-doo-doo-doo, here comes the sun
    It's all right
    It's all right"

Looking forward to breaking the factory air seal and put the lighted car on the rails. The whole solar system in a train will look cool.

The question begging to be asked is will Pluto be represented? Maybe as a caboose? :D

Not really much accomplished on the sub lately. I have attached some curved ends to the scenic divide and have it ready to start applying the backdrops to it. Worked on the fascia board a little. Did the creek cutouts and started sanding the edges. I had about 1/3 bottle of realistic water left so I went ahead and applied that to the creek. Looks like it is finally going to be up to the level I was shooting for.
Over the weekend, I'm sure everyone heard a big hiss followed by a collective gasp and I released the factory air from two M/T cars and placed them on the rails. One lighted and one not, Thinking this is going to be a fun series.

    sun03.JPG sun04.JPG

Have a few interior building lights that I need to get placed and wired before working on more scenery so that is something that is holding me up a little. Got the supplies, now just need to order up some motivation. Slowly making progress on the fascia as well but it needs painting before I apply it. Again, I have the supplies but not the motivation. Wiring and larger item painting are not my favorites.

Once I move past these items, I will work on some scenery and detail around the cement plant and small factory building. That will leave 3 bigger scenes left to work on. A grain elevator, placement and layout of the electrical substation I recently finished, and the mini refinery/chemical storage plant area. Also need to paint and place some corn fields next to the farm.

Plenty to keep me busy for a while but it will be slow going during the next few weeks. Travelling for work for the next two weeks and then have to get back to prepping the parents house for the estate sale and then sale of the house itself. Main goal between now and the end of July is to get all the estate work behind me so I can move on without that worry hanging over me any longer. I know many of you have been through this same thing and between the state of things in todays world and that kind of stuff, it's been a tough last year plus. God bless all of you here and may you be safe from all that is happening during these times.

Whoa, a LIT sun car?! That's really clever. With summer on the way, I wish M-T had first done one of the ice planets like Neptune or Uranus. One car could have cooled off my entire train room.

Well, managed to get back to the layout this weekend. Thought I was going to have time both Saturday and Sunday but as fate would have it, only got to send Sunday afternoon in the train room. There was too much southbound traffic Saturday to make it down but that's a story best left untold. :D

One project that wasn't on the radar for the weekend was working on the corn field by the farm but oddly, it was the first thing that drew my attention. Here is the progress so far. Once the glue is dry, I will see what I can do with the color. It looks better in person but a flat finish will do a lot for it. The corn is the Bluford Shops that you see advertised right here on TrainBoard. I'm sure the mythical fascia (that is coming someday, I promise) will help with the look as well.

Then it was on to some fencing projects.

Wanted to add one more section of Chain link fence between the propane dealer track and the town house track. That is done except for removing the cars holding the fence while it dries so that's all for here. I may come back and add some gates across the track.

    20200628_171914.jpg

Around the cement plant, I added some additional decorative fencing. This fencing I found looks similar to some around the Vulcan Materials site down the road from my office so thought it would be a nice touch. Here we see the fence in place with an assortment of vehicles holding it in place while the glue dries.

After all that fence work, I decided to head over to the creek to cool down.

The water level is finally about where I think is should be. It's a calm but little wavy surface that doesn't show so good in the pictures. The canoers seemed happy with it. Foliage it popping up along the banks. Trees and more brush to follow. Here a few shots.

Another goal for the weekend was to get a few more interior lights installed.

Nothing too fancy. Just these that I got a deal on.

    20200628_171930.jpg

I wired lights for 3 buildings but there is one I will have to go back and redo as there was a mishap with it. In this shot, we see the building in the front got one light, and that out of focus building behind the cement plant got two lights.

    20200628_181408.jpg

The building light that didn't fair so well was in the tall little building on the right in this shot.

Are you sure the Ford LTD didn't break down on the tracks?

    Good looking details!

While I was working on all the little projects, I decided to give my FVM GEVO some track time. It sat in the fuel rack on my old layout but never was run. I have to admit, I was extremely happy with how it performed. Here we see a couple of shots as she heads through town. (and yes, that road is on my list of things to come back and improve someday)

All in all, it was a good afternoon of working on the layout and a much needed break. As always, thought, comments, and suggestion are welcome. Here's hoping everyone is doing well and staying safe.

I like the cornfield. Depending on the season you want it to depict, it can be adjusted for a crop closer to harvest with yellow tassels. Here's a good write-up about it. http://www.spookshow.net/layout6s.html

Worked on a few trees last night. here's one area I did. Ariel vs ground level. Might turn out okay. Trees definitely make a difference.

Same here. I've been getting one lighted and one not lighted. That way if I ever get around to building a big display case on one of the walls, I can display a set and still have a set to run. :)

Put in a few trees over the weekend. Here some additional shots to go with the ones posted a couple of days ago.

This is the corner with the street intersection. Roughly ground level and drone level shots.:D
