eagle 2 i know you said you've used them, i was wondering how hard they are to get them to look good. i had a gp50 that was a pain and never really looked decent. also same with the handrails for them. are they a good match on the atlas gp7 frame and how much work is it to get on the frame? if all sounds good JnJ make sell a few.

Here is a photo of a part completed one, being built by Matt. He can tell you more about it.

    3092:

I think they're decent quality. Being resin castings, there's a fair amount of cleanup to do, especially around the windows and coupler pockets, but with a #11 blade and a needle file it's not too hard, since the material is fairly soft. The molding is very nice to my eye, pretty good detail and no oversized rivets or the like. Of course, all the MoPac specific details still must be added (ie, exhaust stacks and bell) but isn't that always the case?

As for the frame, both of mine are riding on Atlas GP-7 frames, and the shell pretty much just slips down onto them. This might not be the perfect solution, but it seems to be working for me so far. Just have to be careful to pick them up by the frame. The hardest part on the frame (for me) was cutting a fuel tank to fit, since the GP-7 tank comes molded with the wrong type of air resorvoirs.

As for the handrails, on the first one I tried using their wire and etched metal kit and found out quickly that my soldering needed more practice. On the second one I used modified handrails from a LL GP38-2 and the results weren't too bad.

thanks alan and eagle. i'm not real sure about them yet. i wanna see one before i order, i think there are a couple shows coming up so maybe then i'll get them. not only that with the new mopac gp7's atlas is doing might keep them in the roster to run. might do them later since i've got other mopacs to do first. thanks again guys.

<font color="336633">I used the metal handrails from JnJ to do that one, I fixed them with CA.

I forgot to order the corect fuel tank, I think the JnJ one is easy to swap.

How could you pick such ugly colours? Looks good despite the paint!

The shell I got required a bit of basic cleanup but looked real good. I put mine on a LL GP20 frame so the nose fit without alterations and the fuel tank was alot closer. Cheaper than Atlas also. I too use Atlas handrails but have a problem with them coming off. I detailed and painted mine for California Northern and absoulutley love it :D Sorry no pics though.

Cal Northern, John? Did you even put A C&NW bell in the nose? ;) Those beauties used to run routinely behind my old house. Love to see a pic, if you could :D .
