I understand that that certain sound decoders are more challenging to program than others, especially with older controllers. Digitrax has a higher current Blast Mode available on their Zephyr units, which can program sound on the main. But the Zephyr cannot read back in blast mode. I have two unanswered questions in reference to programming these sound decoders with JMRI. 1. Can JMRI program and read back the CV information of these difficult to program sound decoders, and 2. If so, do they require the use of a program track booster to do so?

I use a DCS 100 to run my system. To do the program track with any sound decoder I had to add a program track booster. JMRI will read them fine now.

Before, all I got was an error telling me JMRI was not getting anything from the decoder.

I run a small program track and run leads from the Program leads on the DCS 100 and I also have a wall wart to power the booster.

Till I did that, I was very frustrated. I could only read the DCS 123’s, 126’s and the like.

    Spring for the booster......

    Thanks,
