Yes, 3751 and the San Bernardino Railway Historical Society, it's your fault that I have become a foamer, following steam all over the place. It was 20 years ago today, December 27, 1991, that Sharon and I boarded the train hauled by newly restored 3751, in Barstow, CA. This would be the second leg of four on her maiden trip, over the Tehachapi Loop, the first leg being LAUPT to Barstow. My first steam trip, and over the loop! As a novice, I didn't even record the name of the car we rode, but my camcorder did record about 30 minutes of the toilet in our roomette, as I inadvertently left it on record after setting it down.

We stayed overnight in Bakersfield, and the next day returned, again over the loop, to Barstow on the third leg. This proved to be a wild adventure as it snowed big time and 3751 worked hard through the tunnels on the loop, blasting years of diesel dung off the tops of the tunnels and onto itself, it's crew, and the two pristine ATSF SDP45s (I think) that were assisting. We stopped for service in Tehachapi and the engines looked terrible. So did the crew. We proceeded to Barstow, where we got off. On the fourth day, the train returned to LAUPT.
It was an adventure, and the beginning of my infatuation with steam, chasing and riding all over the country ever since. :tb-biggrin:

Some day that accidental RR car "interior" footage could be valuable reference material! :D

Congratulations on enjoying twenty years of great memories.
