Agh! Where did it go? Why do these "Days off" go by so fast? Well without getting into time theories, the sad truth is that we are back from our long weekend. Or are we? Hmm.....

Friday: Started as my post of that day said, with BNSF trains on the Transcon. It was a busy day. I managed to pass Chillicothe around 10:30 or so then headed to Edelstein. Signal crews were out and the once proud Santa Fe era signal bridge may have been standing guard for the last time as I noticed two "Vaders" (modern signals) standing ready for action on either side. As I made my way into Galesburg, storm clouds gathered and and I decided to get home before the storms along with holiday traffic, got bad. It was a wise decision.

Saturday: Was devoted to yard work. Cutting, trimming, cleaning and digging. We capped the night off at my daughters with a cook out and cold refreshments.

Sunday: I slept in, and that maybe because of Saturdays activities. My allergies were at 11 and sinus pressure was just as high. Still, I was able to clean and organize the garage so I could get some small projects done.

MEMORIAL DAY: I got up closer to my regular time and worked mainly on my B&M Mini Modules. Originally I was going to use magnets, but since I'm using T-Kits modules, now sadly no longer in business, there are two 1/4 inch holes on each side. I simple inserted two T-Nuts onto the left side of each module and used a small 8/32 screw to connect the three modules. It works great and still leaves a bit of fine tuning. I cleaned all the track and ran a test Kato NW2 locomotive through all the switches and spurs with zero trouble. Now I can start scenery. With the test complete, I called it a night.

So how about you? What did you accomplish? Let us know. We'll do it again, this Friday the 1st of June. Wow, life really does come at you fast! Once again, a thank you to all of our men and women who have served and continue to serve. We enjoy our weekends and free time because of your service!

    High Greens!

Saturday I decided to take Playa Desnuda outside into the morning sun. I even orientated the layout to the proper east/west direction….I took these pictures with my tablet since my Nikon battery was not charged…

Monday, I sanded down the flash on my Miniatures By Eric Pacific Electric 1100-1149 interurban and 1445-1449 Box Motor. I noticed that I am missing the steps below the freight doors of the freight motor, and it looks like I can use Micro Trains baggage car steps.

I have sanded down the flash and I have been working on the castings for the 1100, and plan to start gluing everything into place. I have ordered a pair of Tomix chassis to power these.

As predicted I didn’t get much done. Friday was lay around the hotel day. Same as Saturday. Due to a derailment at Aurorajust outside of Chicago trains were late. I didn’t get home until just after 5 am on sunday morning so I pretty much slept all day.

Monday morning I was up bright an early at the insane time of 4:30 am. Caught a radio show and then waited for my wife to wake up. I made a promise a few months ago that we would paint the house starting in June so I took her to Home Depot to look at paint chips. (How do I get my self into these predicaments?) While I waited for her to wake up I opened the train room and stared at the track work to be done. Laid some road bed for the abandoned industry track. Labeled a building for my museum. In other words I put a sign on a building naming the museum as the Robin T Anderson Memorial Railroad Museum in honor of my father. And figured out the next step. Weathering track to make it look old and unused.
