I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas! Did you manage to get anything done?

My days off from both the full time job and the paint shop consisted of last minute gift purchases and getting the house ready for the big day. I spent the most time on getting the Christmas Train, up and running again. After hours of work cleaning the track, getting programming set up Friday night, the 2016 Christmas Train was on its way. It ended up pulling all of Christmas day, at least 12 hours before getting a much needed break.

Saturday it was off to spend the early morning getting those last minute gifts then spending the rest of the day cleaning and getting everything wrapped before enjoying that nice, long winters nap.

On Sunday, Christmas was upon us and soon a flurry of activity descended upon the once quiet house. As I have mentioned before, this is our last Christmas together for a while as the kids are grown up, Jared is off to college and Angela and I are off to New Hampshire soon. It was bittersweet, but a good time was had by all. I picked up that new Iwata airbrush I wanted for the shop as well as some nice work shirts and a cool 1966 Mustang model kit to put together someday.

Monday was really the only day of rest. I spent the first half celebrating Boxing day but watching English Premiere League Football, cleaning and finally playing with the Christmas gift I purchased for my self, slot cars. All in all a busy but fun long weekend.

So how about you? How was the Christmas holiday for you? Let us know. We are coming up to another big holiday, New Years, so another programming change is in order. We'll assemble on Friday the 30th but we won't see each other again until 2017! We'll gather again on Tuesday, January 3rd 2017. So until we meet again on Friday the 30th, may you have a great week, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

I had a great Christmas weekend. Had a blast at the inlaws. I did get some modeling done. Got the fence around the Double D ranch installed. Started populating the ranch with some cows and horses. Put on some automobiles. Next I will start making trees. Oh- worked on a pesky issue with one of my bridges. I think, I have it figured out. A guard rail was to close to the main rail.

Hope ya'll had a wonderful Christmas!!

While running some of my locos to keep them in shape, I finished a Proto auto box car kit (CNR) I was building but it had gone into the low priority queue for a while.

And there's the fun of buying used structures at train shows - I scratchbuilt a new chimney to replace the one (out of four) that was lost on a two-stall engine shed I bought (for $2, I won't complain... I'd even say it was a bonus to have fun scratchbuilding the chimney!).

All the while basking in the Christmas spirit and reminiscing about Yuletides past and all the wonderful memories.

Christmas was great. Christmas day didn't get much done upstairs, but it was time well spent w/ family and friends. I did however manage to finish the PM42 circuit breaker board, get it installed, and tested. Works great. The first shot is making it up at the bench, 2nd shot is after transferring it to the layout.
